Notes & strategy

Keep the same duo and build on what already works. Paladin upgrades his heal to Purify, while Engineer works toward Attack Drone for party haste. You're still using TWO active slots per hero.

What to level
Paladin at Lv20: Vital Blessing 5 + Blessing of Strength 5.
Learn Purify 1 at Lv22, then raise it to 2/3/4 at Lv24/26/28. Once learned, run Purify + Blessing of Strength. The old Vital Blessing ranks stay invested as prerequisites.
Engineer at Lv20: Chain Shot 5, Bomb 2, Sentry Turret 3.
Raise Sentry Turret to 4 at Lv22 and 5 at Lv24. Learn Attack Drone 1 at Lv26, then rank 2 at Lv28.
Run Bomb + Sentry Turret until Lv25, then Bomb + Attack Drone from Lv26. You'll bring Turret back when the third active slot opens at Lv35.

Gear to aim for
Upgrade to Rare item level 20. Weapon/offhand first, then the rest. The saved gems are all tier 1 Uncommon: Frenzy in physical weapon/offhand slots and Thickhide in body armor/legs. Treat these as affordable goals, not a reason to stop progressing. Save gold for your next party and skill slots before chasing perfect gear.

Where to farm — Veil
Lv20: 7-1 | Lv21: 7-4 | Lv22: 7-7 | Lv23: 7-9
Lv24: 8-3 | Lv25: 8-6 | Lv26: 8-9
Lv27: 9-2 | Lv28: 9-5 | Lv29: 9-8

Your passive path
The saved tree covers Lv20. Origin is free. After that, add one node per level in this order; each ID lines up with the next level from Lv21 to 29.
Paladin: 186 > 187 > 188 > 976 > 975 > 974 > 141 > 201 > 202
Engineer: 979 > 142 > 218 > 219 > 220 > 221 > 984 > 983 > 982

Keep the XP flowing
These are farming spots to try once unlocked. Compare XP over a few minutes and stick with the fastest clean clears. If a stage feels slow or you start dying, drop back 1-3 stages. Clear bosses to unlock the next area; don't get stuck forcing one four levels above you. An XP pet is a bonus if you already own one, not a requirement.
