Use unlocked spots; push the previous act boss with the BOSS preset, then switch back to FARM. If you die or clears drag, step back and compare XP/min. Boss HP/resists are much higher: more AoE is not always better.

Boss upgrade target: after Command III, strengthen the whole party, including HP/regen armor. At Lv49, Breach 5 boss: +0 lost 30/30; full Rare +6 won 30/30 (~52s average), +6 with both awakenings ~27s. Weapon/offhand-only upgrades still lost. Farming preview stays +0; +6 is the later investment target.

Native 1.0.2, 30 seeds x 10-min farm tests plus boss trials; fixed levels/target gear, no pets/account bonuses. Best tested candidates, not exhaustive. Recruitment/gearing/unlock time excluded.
